Maintenance
The correct maintenance of your sliding folding
doors reduces wear, improves smoothness of operation and further
protects against corrosion.
Track and Bearings
Using a spatula or similar apply a small amount of
white petroleum to the inner lip of each side of the track. Make sure
the wheels pass through the lubricant so that it is distributed evenly
along the track. Put additional lubricant around the bearings. Remove
surface contaminants by wiping all visible track surfaces with a damp
cloth and mild detergent. Then wipe clean with dry cloth.
Hangers, pivots and brackets
A light spray application of a corrosion
preventative such as WD40, followed by a light wipe with a dry cloth is
recommended for all hangers, pivots and brackets. Exposed surfaces
should first be wiped down with warm soapy water and a soft rag, and
then rinsed clean before applying the preventative.
Hinges
Wipe down visible surfaces with warm soapy water
and a soft rag, and then rinse clean. The application of a thin film of
a light machine oil or WD40 will help maintain the original lustre.
Take care not to get these compounds on the timberwork since they may
cause staining.
Dropbolts
Spray a suitable lubricant such as WD40 on the
sliding pin inside the bolt and to the lock cylinder. There are access
holes or slots on all dropbolts so this can be done without removing
the locks.
Solid Brass
Polished solid brass is supplied as a natural,
unlacquered finish, which can be left to develop a naturally aged
patina or polished with any commercial brass cleaner.
Frequency
Every six months.
